Physical Education activity for Key Stages 3 and 4

If you are looking for a Key Stage 3 or 4 activity that’s a little bit different then we can offer sessions that can be tailored to your class’ needs.

The most obvious application of Eskrima for young people is that it is great for self-defence and discussing issues around violence.

Beyond this, Eskrima can be a beautiful art which teaches a foundation that can then be expressed by a student in their own, unique way. Similar in many ways to dance. We have found with our own junior classes that this makes Eskrima something children find fun and engaging.

Eskrima can offer several things for Key Stage 3 and 4 needs. It is a challenging activity that builds traits, such as confidence and co-ordination. It is good for building trust and teamwork as much of the system is done with a partner. Students learn how to develop their strengths and weaknesses and to develop tactics that suit their current abilities.

The format of these sessions can be adjusted to fit your own requirements and goals. They can be single sessions or run over several weeks.

For anyone under 16 we usually only teach stick and empty hands, the knife aspect being reserved for our adult classes. However, we can discuss the possibility of a knife awareness workshop if this is something that you feel would benefit your students.

Our instructors are DBS checked and have experience working with kids through our own regular junior classes (ages 10 to 17).
